Ladies Scary Scramble - October 2019
At last the preparations were complete, all the hard work turning the club into a Halloween extravaganza, the tables set for dinner, pumpkins decorated on the tees, a half way house turned into a spooky cafe with mulled cider, hot chocolate and wonderful cakes, outfits co-ordinated and we were ready to welcome our visitors from far and wide. They all entered into the spirit (no pun intended) of the day fielding some fabulous outfits, many completely unrecognisable behind their wigs and make up. Even Bedfordshire Ladies couldn't work out who our own people were at times.
Then it was time to head off and let the witches, devils, skeletons, ghosts, pixies & Brides of Dracula take over the course for our Scary Scramble. The weather was reasonably kind but the wind would play havoc with some of the wigs, head dresses & flowing robes.
The ball wasn't running but that didn't stop some impressive shots happening and in the end the results for the visiting teams could not have been tighter with all 4 placed visiting teams achieving the same score - Countback yet again proving the decisive factor.
Post game, the Biddenham Suite transformed with cobwebs, spiders, balloons, ghosts & pumpkins saw 100 ladies gather for a feast of chilli, lasagne and mushroom stroganoff washed down with whatever the ghouls fancied before the results and prizes were awarded.
Lets come and do it again next year they cheered ....... & do you know, I think we will!!
